The Iron King Mine/Humboldt Smelter Superfund site encompasses areas of contamination from two separate former facilities: the Iron King Mine an the Humboldt Smelter (see Figure 1). The Iron King Mine was an active min from 1906 to 1969. The Humboldt Smelter operated from the late 1800s to 1937. Other small operations continued at the smelter property into the ea 1960s.
